I & E Technician

MAIN FUNCTION

Performs technical maintenance and repair of either Electrical or Instrumentation and control equipment in support of the Continental Carbon maintenance programs. The work involves maintaining and repairing a variety of electrical, electronic and electro-mechanical equipment, appliances and devices using specialized test equipment and instruments.

The position will calibrate and inspect measurement equipment, eliminate and report product leaks, seeps, and spills, as well as assist with construction, maintenance and mechanical integrity projects in the Plant.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Diagnoses equipment malfunctions, replaces faulty equipment and verifies standards.
  • Provides detailed analysis of Instrumentation equipment and follow-up on preventive maintenance.
  • Effectively communicates and works closely with other I&E Technicians on daily work assignments, projects and tasks.
  • Performs basic preventive maintenance and repairs on Electrical equipment and wiring including, but not limited to motors, breakers etc
  • Utilizes appropriate equipment specific tools and safely removes Electrical equipment from service prior to initiating repairs or testing.
  • Interacts with other departments to identify root cause of malfunctions or problems and assist with identifying solutions
  • Utilizes appropriate equipment specific tools, such as amp meters, process calibrators, digital multi-meters, for Instrumentation equipment testing and repair as needed.
  • Preps sites for safety based on tasks and utilizes appropriate advanced safety precautions as required.
  • Install, troubleshoot, clean, inspect, calibrate, and maintain electrical, instrumentation, and distributive control equipment throughout the Plant safely and professionally
  • Must be able to operate industrial forklifts, man lifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment as needed.
  • Maintain qualifications and record documentation in accordance with all applicable DOT and OSHA regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to work Overtime and callout hours as necessary to complete emergency repairs

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must be able to successfully pass qualifications test.

Preferred:

  • Associate's Degree in Electrical Maintenance, Instrumentation or Industrial Electronics or; Journey Man’s license in related fields of electrical, mechanical or instrumentation
  • Certified Electronic Instrumentation Technician and proficient with PLC programming, DCS Controls and Fisher-Rosemount Delta V and/or Provox digital control systems
