Plant General Manager
Job description
- Responsible for overall plant business plans, operations, resource requirements, and profitability.
- Person in-charge for plant sales, production, maintenance, shipping, engineering, SHEA, quality, and administration functions.
- Provides leadership in the development and implementation of a highly responsive organization
- Formulates strategic and operating plans that strive for profitability, growth, and competitiveness.
- Proactively engages in community leadership activities that promote mutual interests for the community and the Company. Implements best housekeeping practices to provide image within the community.
- Allocates organizational resources consistent with and meeting the Company stakeholders’ stated objectives.
· Sales – works in coordination with Marketing and Sales group to optimize revenue and profit generation through customer selection, product types, production rates, shipping and package configurations, and transportation.
· Production – ensures all production plant assets, including personnel, equipment, machinery, and facilities are operating efficiently and effectively.
· Maintenance – develops and implements preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Assures maximum plant operability, reliability, and effectiveness.
· Shipping – Installs best practices and procedures to assure on-time delivery of order commitments.
· Engineering – Provides technical support in the areas of capital projects, plant instrumentation and controls, process analysis and improvements.
· Quality and systems – Stays abreast of product quality requirements and establish quality systems and procedures to assure compliance to those requirements.
· Safety, Health and Environmental – Ensure plant operations are in total compliance with all applicable government regulations. Instill positive relationship within the communities that the plants are located.
· Process Improvement – Monitor ongoing carbon black manufacturing process efficiency and develop continuous improvements in manufacturing systems, subsystems, and processes.
· Cost budget and cash flow management – Establishes, implements, and adheres to operating and financial budgets. Manages raw materials (feedstock,) and finished goods (inventory) to attain best cash flow.
· Labor relations – create and nurture a healthy relationship with labor unions that focus on cooperation and productivity. Fully understands the CBA’s and ensures the proper implementation thereof.
· Profit and Loss – Achieves specified performance objectives in the Company Annual Operating Plan (“AOP”) and Strategic Business Plan (“SBP”).
· Leadership – Sets example to fulfill Company’s credo and mission statement. Improves people performance through coaching, education, and training to ensure a productive and motivated workforce.
· High energy level, chemical process industry knowledge, and a team builder with strong management skills.
· Have creativity to challenge historical beliefs or practices by introducing new and innovative thinking into the traditional manufacturing and industrial mindset to continuously improve in all areas of plant operation.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Bachelor degree in chemical engineering or scientific field required. MBA highly recommended.
15 to 20 years of relevant work experience, including 5 years of demonstrated success in a similar role preferably within a $200M - $500M chemical manufacturing company
